In October, I decided to get a jump start on my 2018 goals. I wanted to balance motherhood, being a wife, my blog and my Etsy shop a lot better. I didn’t want for life to happen (You know, Doctor’s appointments, sick kids, meetings, laundry) and I not get any work done. I knew that I had time in my schedule I just had to figure out how to best utilize it. I implemented 3 things into my routine in October to help make sure I am making the most of my time and working towards my business and blogging goals. Although I talk about balancing motherhood and business, these tips would work fine with anyone trying to find time to work on their goals.
Can I be transparent for a moment? Since starting Love, Jenell and my Etsy Shop, Love, Jenell, have always struggled with voice and self-promotion. I don’t know what it is. The fear of failure? The fear of judgment? Self-doubt? People seeing me in a new light? I’m not quite sure. Maybe it’s a mix of everything. There’s something about creating something and putting it out for the world to see that makes me nervous. However, what I do know is that my nerves are not doing my blog or business any favors. I am keenly aware that the things I want for my blog and business will require a more shameless Jenell…a different version of myself.
It’s almost that time of year again. Yep, time to start planning for the new year. One way we can make sure the new year is amazing is by feeding our mind. I thought I would share a few books I enjoy. I selected these five must-read books because I believe they can help us plan and prepare for the upcoming year. These books will challenge you, encourage you, and dare you to dream big. If you know another purposeful and motivated women, consider picking up one as a gift for them.
The New Year is slowly approaching, and if you are anything like me, you are busy getting things in order. Between cleaning for the holidays and getting things organized so you can crush your goals, sometimes things get forgotten. And one of these things that get forgotten is out computers, the desktop to be exact. I created a free desktop wallpaper to help show you how to organize your computer desktop in order to increase your productivity. The less time we spend searching for our files, the more time we can spend on working. I’ll admit, sometimes I have to spend a few minutes searching for a file because I forgot where I saved it. Hopefully, this screensaver will help save us some time, but at the very least makes us look like we are fancy and organized lol.
We all need a pep talk sometimes. When you are starting a new venture or struggling to start, it’s easy to feel like we are in it alone. Somehow we tell ourselves that we are the first and only person struggling to find motivation or afraid of the unknown. It’s a lie. And these must-see TED talks help crush those fears. These successful women talk open and honest about the ups and downs of success.
In a world ruled by social media, it’s very easy for our eyes to veer off of our own paper. We can log into facebook and see someone who recently got engaged or read a tweet about a new promotion, and just like that envy creeps in. In order for us to achieve all of our goals and not be so hard on ourselves, we need to keep our eyes on our own paper!
Everyone wants to live a balanced life. No one wants to feel overworked, tired or frustrated because they have neglected themselves. The problem is that balance doesn’t just happen. We just don’t find balance. We actually have to create balance, but that can be difficult. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can live a more balanced life, and here are five things I believe are essential in creating a balanced life.
I think we can all admit that sometimes with the hustle and bustle of life we can forget to take care of ourselves. We can get so caught up in doing for others that doing things for ourselves may seem selfish. The realities of work, motherhood or entrepreneurship start to consume the little free time we do have. Here’s the thing though, we need me time. We need time to relax and fill ourselves up. Like the saying goes, we cannot pour from an empty cup. We have to be 100 percent in order to show up as the best version of ourselves. I want my family and friends to get the full-Jenell, not the one who is giving and loving out of a deficit. So, just like we schedule in meetings and events, it’s important that we are scheduling in me time and doing things our bodies and minds NEED to feel recharged and ready to take on the world like a BOSS.
This week I took some time to sit back, reflect and plan. I came up with 5 questions to ask myself. These questions helped me think about how 2016 was, how 2017 can be better and what I need to do to make sure 2017 is better.
I decided to share the questions, in hope that they could help someone else close out their year strong!
