Goal Setting Check-In: Courage, Consistency and Compromise

Hey y’all!

Two weeks ago I wrote a post about goal setting and finishing 2016 strong. If you have not read that post, you can do so HERE. I want EVERYONE to win with intention, so I just wanted to check-in and make sure that everyone is working towards finishing 2016 strong.

I put together a list of three things that I’m doing to intentionally win in 2016. I hope this encourages you and helps you think about what you are doing or could be doing to reach your goals this year.

Everyday I’m taking little steps to lead to my bigger goals. I’m researching, finding meetup groups, exercising. Doing something every day that will bring me closer to were I want to be at the beginning of 2017. I believe good things come to those who are consistent. While we are not perfect, we can fix out minds on being consistent and working hard to complete our goals. We may fall short, but I am convinced that great fruit will still be produced because God honors consistency and faithfulness (1 Cor 15:58). So do something every day that moves you closer to your goals even when you don’t feel like it or the goal feels out of reach. It is those little steps and efforts that get us to where we want to go. We already wrote the vision, now set your eyes on that vision and get to work.

The last few months have forced me out of my comfort zone. Starting Mama’s Got This and put it out there for family and friends to see has been scary for me. The other day I had a come to Jesus moment about fear and goals and realized that fear is my sign to keep going.  I know that God did not give us a spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7), so I know that these feelings are not of God. When I am doing something positive with my life and honoring God, those feelings of fear are attempting to distract me from the goodness that may come out of it. I don’t know if I can do it. What will people say about me?  We should be walking towards our goals with hope and not doubt because we know the God we serve. So start now, where you are and with what you have. Don’t be afraid of what may come, because you already know that everything will work together for good for those who love God and trust him with their plans (Romans 8:28). So let’s do this man! God’s got us!

One thing I don’t want to do is compromise. Compromising can be dangerous! The more we compromise the further we get from our goals. One nap, one tv show, one piece of pizza at a time we drift further from what we set out to accomplish. A few weeks ago I was struggling with waking up to have devotional time. I was compromising my time with God for a few extra minutes of sleep, and I could feel myself drifting further away from Him. What we don’t want to do is wake up in 2017 drifting away from our goals and wondering what happened to the last few months of 2016. I’m praying to God to give me the strength to keep my word to myself.

I hope this list gives you the courage to start and keep going. Let’s start sowing into our lives and showing up for ourselves  now so we can reap sooner than later. Remember, you got this and God’s got you!

What are you doing NOW to make sure 2017 is the bomb?
