Happy International Women’s Day!
The past couple of years have been all about the grind and showing up for yourself. But sometimes in the midst of the grind and showing up for ourselves, we forget to show up for those who show up for us. I know I am cheered on and supported by some amazing women who are doing life just like me. Thier support is a bonus to their friendship. I am not owed anything from them but friendship. But they still take some time to read my blog, share my posts or purchase from my shop. And for that, I am truly thankful. But beyond being thankful, I think I owe it to those who show up for me to show up for them.
So, make sure you are showing up for the women in your life. If you need some suggestions on how to show up for those in your tribe, check out this list I put together last year.
It’s all about not becoming the friend who gets support but never takes the time to give. Make sure you are leaving space to show up for those who show up for you. Show up for the event, share their post, purchase an item from them, let them bend your ear. NO. You don’t have to do it. Your friendship should be enough, and it is, but it is also good to show up for those who show up for you. We all know doing life (motherhood, building a business, being a wife, going to school, etc.) can be a lot. Having people in your life who you can talk with and you know will show up for you, is such a great feeling. Yes, we can do it alone, but doing life with an amazing tribe of friends makes things a lot more fun. So, go ahead and show up for those who show up for you. Lift your head from your day planner and see that you have a tribe of people supporting you, and they just might need your support too.
If you need a little bit of sisterhood in your life, take a listen to Danai Gurira’s Essence Women in Hollywood speech. If this speech doesn’t make you realize why International Women’s Day is important and why we NEED to support and love each other, I’m not sure what to tell you. lol.
Remember! You got this, and God’s got you! Have an amazing International Women’s Day.
