Taking time before you face the world and the demands life has on you to focus on peace and good things can set the tone for your day. So, let peace in before you let the world in. Before you grab your phone to check social media or emails, take some time to yourself to focus on things that bring you joy and encourage growth.
Also, one thing that is important to me is being mindful of the things I listen to after I set the tone for my day. A LOT of the time morning radio stations have segments were people call in to complain about jobs, relationships, finances. I don’t want to spend my mornings in prayer and focusing on gratitude only for a few hours later to listen to people complain. If I am not careful about what I listen to, it could be easy for me to slip into complaining. Like how bad would it suck if you spend your morning finding peace to go to a job you are ready to leave to only get in the car to hear people call into the radio station to complain about their job. The next thing you know you are cosigning the caller. Guard your peace!
But without further adieu, here are 3 peaceful ways to start your morning.
SPEND TIME WITH GOD
Devotionals are my preferred method of starting my day. You don’t need to buy a big book of devotions because there are tons of digital devotional resources. I wrote about digital devotional resources HERE. Most devotionals require you to do some work, so be prepared to write. Devotionals are a great way to learn scriptures and think about how they relate to our life.
If you aren’t up for grabbing a pen and paper to journal or write anything, simply read. Here are three books that will help you jumpstart your day and offer inspiration.
WRITE IT DOWN
Take some time a write down your intentions for the day. I created a 7-day gratitude journal that you can use to start journaling download that HERE. I hope this list is helpful to someone. I encourage you to find a routine that allows you to relax and face the day with positivity. From stretching to meditation to journaling, establish a routine. Be intentional and mindful. Oh and try not to compromise. Because let me tell you, when I start compromising and hitting snooze and skipping my devotional time, it has a huge impact on my mood.
