In the past few months Love, Jenell’s audience has grown. YAY! I’ve seen everyone on Instagram sharing 5 random facts about themselves, so I thought it would be cool to share some random facts about myself on Love, Jenell. I figure this would be a good way for both new and old readers to learn a bit more about me. This list is full of things you wouldn’t know from my about me section or by scrolling through my Insta. I hope no one thinks I’m a little cray because of this list, lol.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the New Year and how often this can be a discouraging time, especially if you have big goals. It’s easy to feel like you aren’t doing enough. Sometimes it is difficult to see how your day to day actions impact your larger goals. We know we should be doing these small things. Sending the emails. Doing the research. Creating the content. But when results aren’t immediately seen, some people like to turn around or throw in the towel. I just want us to keep going. To not expect every day to be filled with big breaks, and for us to honor the small things that help us achieve our big goals.
I think one of the hardest things to do when working for home, rather it is full time, a side hustle or a passion project, is finding out where to exactly work. If your area is like mine, local coffee shops and Starbucks are always crowded and attempting to find a space to work is next to impossible. So here is a list of places where you can work remotely and get things done, nearly all are free.
This time of year we all need positive voices cheering us on and letting us know that we got this! I am a HUGE fan of listening to personal development and Christian podcasts that encourage listeners to make positive changes in their life. So, I put together a list of amazing motivational podcasts episodes that will provide you with encouragement and knowledge to make sure you win in 2018. What we listen to is soooo important. Make sure what you are listening to is feeding your dreams and starving your fears and doubts. And as a bonus, I included 2 youtube videos that I watched this year that I enjoyed.
All the podcasts can be found on Apple, Stitcher and Google Play. But you can also click on the pink link to listen to the exact episode.
Happy New Year! I pray 2018 is starting off wonderful for everyone. I know that if you are reading this you are an ambitious goal setter, which means that you are more than likely working on how to make 2018 amazing. There are tons of things we can do to make sure that we are successful in the new year, but I believe the one thing that is essential to our success is self-reflection. How can we grow into the person we want to be if we never reflect on who we currently are? So, for me the key to growth and self-improvement is self-reflection.
In the New Year, lots of people are looking to leave the old behind and start anew. Rather it is a spiritual, health or mental cleanse, I think it’s a great to complete a cleanse in order to go into the New Year lighter and focused. For me, a cleanse shows me how strong I truly am. I completedTHISjuice fast once and felt like a boss after those 3 days were over. I was ready to take over the world. And isn’t that how you want to feel at the top of the year….like a boss.
In October, I decided to get a jump start on my 2018 goals. I wanted to balance motherhood, being a wife, my blog and my Etsy shop a lot better. I didn’t want for life to happen (You know, Doctor’s appointments, sick kids, meetings, laundry) and I not get any work done. I knew that I had time in my schedule I just had to figure out how to best utilize it. I implemented 3 things into my routine in October to help make sure I am making the most of my time and working towards my business and blogging goals. Although I talk about balancing motherhood and business, these tips would work fine with anyone trying to find time to work on their goals.
Last year I made a list of questions for the new year that we should ask ourselves before we plan our goals. And the list is still very relevant, and you can find it HERE. I will still ask myself these questions, but this year the most important question I am asking myself is, “what will this require of me?”
December is here! And I’m sure tons of people are beginning to map out their goals and plans for 2018. One way people get ready for the New Year is by creating a vision board.
It’s no surprise that I love this time of year and goal setting. But let me be honest, I have never created a vision board. I’ve always been a pen to paper type girl. And the only reason I never made one is….because I have no place to hang it. Sad, right? But this year I’ve decided to make a few small ones to put in my planner binder that I will see every day.
While I haven’t created a vision board, I am approaching my vision board a lot like I approach goal setting. I know there are tons of cute pictures on the internet and magazines, but they may not be what I envision for my 2018. A vision board is nothing more than our goals and dreams in visual form. So, just like our goals and dreams, vision boards don’t work unless we do. I don’t want to just cut out images, I want to be clear on what I want in life. In order to be strategic and thoughtful in creating my vision board, I am sitting down and writing out my vision for the new year. So, here are 4 things I’m planning to do before I create my vision board.
Can I be transparent for a moment? Since starting Love, Jenell and my Etsy Shop, Love, Jenell, have always struggled with voice and self-promotion. I don’t know what it is. The fear of failure? The fear of judgment? Self-doubt? People seeing me in a new light? I’m not quite sure. Maybe it’s a mix of everything. There’s something about creating something and putting it out for the world to see that makes me nervous. However, what I do know is that my nerves are not doing my blog or business any favors. I am keenly aware that the things I want for my blog and business will require a more shameless Jenell…a different version of myself.
